This past weekend a few Friars made the trip to UMASS Amherst for the New England Championships. The Big Performances of the weekend were Emma Perron in the 1500m where she finished 5th overall in an ECAC qualifying time of 4:29.20. (Emma’ Splits: 70.6, 2:25.1 (74.5), 3:35.5 (70.3) 4:29.20 (53.7)). Caitlin Lawrence finished tied for 8th place in the high Jump with a jump of 1.59m (5-02 ½). The high jump was contested in the early morning with rainy conditions and 3rd thru 8th place where all separated by who had the less amount of misses at 5-02 ½.
In the men’s meet Charlie Dewey won the 800m in an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 1:48.77. Charlie led the 800m race from start to finish with second place almost 1.5 seconds behind. Charlie’s New England time moves him up to #1 on the NCAA East Regional descending order list and #12 in the country as of today. (Charlie splits: 24.8, 51.8 (27.0), 1:19.8 (27.0), 1:48.77 (28.9))
Also in the men’s meet, PC set a new school record in the 4×400m with a 5th place finish in an IC4A qualifying time of 3:15.82. The team consisted of Brian Stannard (49.9), Charlie Dewey (47.3), Alan Pandiani (49.2), and Thomas Manglaviti (49.3).
Up next for the Friars will be the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Princeton University on May 15th – 17th and then the NCAA East Regional Championships in Greensboro N.C. on May 29th and 30th.
