This past weekend the Friars traveled to Greensboro N.C., on the campus of North Carolina A&T, for the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championships. The top five athletes in each event get an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville Arkansas. Then seven to eight athletes will be selected from the Men’s and Women’s eligible descending order list of athletes who have finished in the top 12 of their event in their region. Providence College traveled down to Greensboro with eight student-athletes, three women and five men.
In the Women’s meet Hannah Davidson finished 10th overall in the 3000m steeple with a time of 10:35.29, since she was in the top 12, her time on the descending order list projects her to qualify, announcements will be made on Tuesday June 2nd. Danette Doetzel finished 9th in the 5k with a time of 16:25.67 but will be competing in the 10,000m at the NCAA Championships.
